What is CBD?
CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the 113 bioactive molecules found in cannabis. These molecules are known as cannabinoids, and they promote bioregulation and homeostasis throughout the brain and body. In other words, these molecules help your body stay in check. How does this work? Cannabinoids interact with the body’s largest receptor system, the Endocannabinoid System. This interaction happens with receptors throughout our entire body, and this is why cannabinoid-rich products have such a large range of potential benefits. We actually make cannabinoids naturally! However, there are often communication errors within the body, causing various irregularities. These irregularities can lead to the need for supplementation to regain balance throughout the mind and body. The Endocannabiniod System helps regulate our immune system responses and our central nervous system activities. CBD helps facilitate these communications, which is why it applies to various researched areas.
CBD is a non-psychoactive and non-addictive molecule. It has no intoxicating effects on the brain, unlike another widely-known cannabinoid called THC. CBD is derived from hemp, which is cannabis that is bred to have less than .3% THC. The trace amounts of THC enhance the overall effectiveness of CBD products, without causing any sort of "HIGH". In Full Spectrum CBD products, the Cannabidiol works harmoniously with all the other cannabinoids, terpenes, vitamins, and mineral-rich plant products to provide more robust therapeutic effects than CBD Isolate products. Full Spectrum, or Full Plant, products utilize all of the cannabinoids, as well as the plant’s aromatic profile, to capitalize on the phytochemical bounty of cannabis. This is an instance where “The Whole is Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts”. For example, taking vitamin C is not as effective or beneficial as eating an orange.
Utilizing the interdependencies of these bioactive constituents to create a cascade of responses from the Endocannabinoid System is called the Entourage Effect. It is the body’s great harmonizer; it encourages balance and equilibrium throughout the mind and body.
CBD is a natural, safe, and non-addictive substance.
It has been proven to have therapeutic effects for a multitude of ailments and conditions, including (but not limited to) PAIN, INFLAMMATION, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, and INSOMNIA. CBD is one of nature’s most powerful anti-inflammatory agents. This property of CBD alone is huge, as inflammation is one of the root causes of disease. CBD is often thought of as the bridge between the mind and the body.
